Our founder, Lawrell Studstill, was introduced to Japanese green in 1998 while visiting Kyoto. The fresh grassy taste was unlike any green tea he had encountered in the United States or elsewhere. At that time, 'fresh' Japanese green tea could only be found in high-end sushi restaurants which wasn't really that fresh after all. Once a person tastes truly fresh loose-leaf Japanese green tea, nothing else will do. This is why we purchase directly from the producer several times during the harvest seasons and air-ship to ensure that our green tea is as fresh as possible.
